The importance of connecting with your inner child
I often talk about the importance of healing the deepest part of our subconscious mind ‘the inner child’.
The inner child is the part of our mind that carries the thoughts, attitudes and emotional experiences formed in childhood, and therefore conditions, with its past baggage, our choices as an adult.
If, as a child, you didn’t feel seen, heard or understood, it is likely that you will be triggered when people don’t listen to you, misunderstand you or dismiss your feelings. Basically, this inner child asks you for help through the emotions of discomfort that it sends.
Reconnecting with the emotions you suppressed a long time ago and reaching deep within yourself to get to your inner child, can help you heal from past trauma. To heal past wounds you need to love, comfort and nurture the child within.
Allow yourself to take a trip down memory lane by communicating with your inner child about your childhood.
How was your childhood?
What experiences did you go through?
What effect has your childhood had on your current life?
Here are a few phrases you can say to your inner child to help you heal with compassion, empathy, and love.
- It is safe to heal and move…
