Nobody can make you feel anything

Contrary to popular belief, nobody can make you feel anything…others can affect your mood, can trigger you, and yes, it is normal to feel upset when this occurs…however, your beliefs about a situation play a significant role in shaping your feelings and emotions.

How we feel is ultimately our emotional response to a given situation or event. While external factors and other people’s actions can influence our emotions, they do not have the power to directly control or dictate how we feel.

Our emotional responses are influenced by various factors, including our thoughts, beliefs, past experiences, and interpretations of the events happening around us. Different individuals may have different emotional reactions to the same situation based on their unique perspectives and personal histories.

For example, if someone criticises us, one person may feel hurt and take it personally, while another person may interpret the criticism as an opportunity for growth and remain unaffected. The same event can elicit different emotional responses because individuals perceive and interpret the situation differently.
